Monitoring and Conservation of Important Sea Turtle Feeding Grounds in the Patok Area of Albania, 2009

Goal: Protection of world endangered migratory species of loggerhead sea turtle

Country Impact

Country Level:

  • SGP has spearheaded activities aiming at the conservation of marine ecosystems in Albania.

  • SGP is the main player in the country in the area of agro biodiversity in collaboration with the FAO focal point for rare breeds, it has also helped the farmers to access state subsidies for rare breeds as well as has helped them to increase their income by valorization of the product and better marketing.

Regional level:

  • SGP has contributed to the implementation of the Strategic Action Programme for the Conservation of Biological Diversity in the Mediterranean Region (SAP BIO).
