The program was effective in reaching people and knowing their problems regarding solid waste management. It also explored the ideas and concerns of local people. More than 1,200 households gained knowledge on the solid waste activity and segregation methods. They have also learned about the waste reduction, recycle and reuse concept. A total of 6 tons wastes per day have been collected and managed. Among them, 2 tons of organic wastes have been managed at household level whereas 0.5 ton at WEPCO premises (compost plant). Everyday about 3oo kg of plastics, 100 kg of papers and 200 kg of iron and metals have been separated and sold. Likewise, biogas plant established in Budhanilkantha School is being used in cooking food for students and staffs, and has cut down their dependence on LP gas significantly. Similarly, the demonstration site established in WEPCO premises has been successful in delivering information on environment preserving factor on one hand and on the other hand, earned NRs. 25,000.00-30,000.00 annually. More than 50,000 visitors have visited the demonstration site since its establishment. 43 eco-clubs at different schools compromising more than 500 students have been established. NRs. 43,000.00 has been collected as annual membership charge from 43 schools. Moreover the major achievement is an availability of platform to learn, widen, share and discuss; knowledge on environmental issues. Likewise, green circle program displaced the environment unfriendly practices of disposing the waste papers like burning them haphazardly in one hand whereas on the other hand, it generated source of support for WEPCO as NRs. 74,000.00 was collected from 14 member organizations at a single step as annual membership fee. The annual renew fee of NRs. 500 helps in sustainability of the program.
