You do not need to fell the tree to kill it!


In Bongadovan and in many parts of Nepal, the villagers use pine fatwood for household lighting. The fatwood, locally called Jharro or Diyalo is not only sooty but it also posses the threat to the forest. The villagers chop the phloem part of the pine tree for the lighting purpose, which ultimately kills the tree.
