Project Details & Results

Project Goal:
To achieve ecological and social justice for woman community in customary forest management.

Project Objectives:
1. Building ecological management area of Sialang tree
2. Increasing woman and organizational capacity in ecological management
3. Improving community income through Sialang honey bee product development by woman group
4. Information dissemination and management related to conservation and economy activities in developing Sialang Tree ecological management by women group of Mt. Sahilan Village

Activities to be conducted :
1. Program socialization
a. Conducting consolidation with stakeholders of Gunung Sahilan Village
b. Conducting consultation with women group of Gunung Sahilan Village
2. Conducting assessment of Sialang Tree ecological management area in Gunung Sahilan Village
a. Organizing gender perspective natural resource management
b. Mapping on local wisdom values on Sialang Tree management
c. Mapping on Sialang tree distribution
d. Mapping analysis
e. Composing 3D map of Sialang Tree ecological management area
3. Establishment of Sialang Tree ecological management area in Gunung Sahilan Village
a. Building local agreement in ecological management
b. Organizing community discussion to develop Sialang Tree ecological management mechanism
c. Organizing regular discussion at village level to achieve legal mechanism in Sialang tree ecological management
4. Sialang Tree conservation
a. Training on seedling and cultivating
b. Organizing discussion to develop rules and mechanism in Sialang tree conservation (seedling, planting, and maintaining)
c. Seedling and cultivating
d. Sialang tree care and maintenance
e. Composing monitoring and evaluation manual on Sialang Tree ecological management area
5. Increasing women group capacity
a. Conducting organizational management training
6. Improving community economy
a. Entrepreneurship training
b. Organizing training on product innovation, packaging, and business development
c. Distributing business capital to women group in form of revolving fund
d. Composing business plan (marketing diagram, strategic market) using business consultant service
7. Information dissemination as an effort to distribute information and transforming ecological corridor management model initiated by women group to conserve the area using Sialang tree and honey bee as key species :
a. Producing documentary film;
b. Conducting workshop at district level with various stakeholders
8. Monitoring and Evaluation





Expected Output :
1. Established ecological corridor management area supported by local policy and mechanism
2. Existed Sialang tree conservation regulation or mechanism (seedling, planting, care and maintenance)
3. Developed participative monitoring and evaluation in Sialang tree ecological corridor management area
4. Established solid and autonomous women organization
5. Established honey bee-based women group’s organization
6. Existed audiovisual and printed media for information distribution
