Project Details & Results
The overall objective of this project is to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity in the valley through developing local eco-tourism, better management of natural resources and raising awareness regarding issue of conservation and sustainable natural resource management, simultaneously improving the living conditions of the area’s local community. The project will specifically focus on developing locally managed eco-tourism in the project area, improve land management to control degradation, thus improving livelihoods of the local farmers, improving efficiency and availability of irrigation water and raise community awareness of the importance of eco-tourism and sustainable environmental practices.
Notable Community Participation
The local community of Arjan Valley will be totally involved in all project implementation phases and the direct beneficiaries of its activities.
Capacity - Building Component
Training and awareness activities will be provided by the Ajloun Nature reserve to the cooperative and the local community members, in terms of managing ecotourism and project management.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
The development of locally managed ecotourism will improve and diversify the livelihoods of local community.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Conservation of natural resources will be the focus of the awareness component of this project. Focus will be given to the importance and the interrelation of local and global environment.
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
Part of the activities of the project will be supported through a revolving fund mechanism which guarantees broadening of beneficiary base and sustaining project activities.
