Project Details & Results
The initial project was reinvented into a beekeeping project. The commuity around Kapsabet will udnertake tree planting in their shambas, udnertake bee keeping and attend workshops on the values of conserving the Nandi forest. A private enterprise, Honeycare Africa will work with the community to market all the honey produced from the project.
Notable Community Participation
The community will participate in tree planting and bee keeping.
Capacity - Building Component
The NGO and community will acquire new skills in bee keeping and honey processing using the langstroth hive.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
proceeds from the honey will better the communities income.
Gender Focus
The project is primarily based on members of aWomen's group although it was later expanded to men as well.
