Project Details & Results

The GEF SGP started its activity in June 2007. To acquaint different target groups about the GEF/SGP thematic priorities, criteria and to ensure a wide audience participation in the GEF SGP programmes a stakeholders workshop "Small Grants Programme. Searching for partners" is arranged in September 1997.
A wide range of SGP GEF partners will take part in the workshop, like experts (ecologicts, biologists, geographers, etc), NGOS, CBOs, local authorities, mass-media. The GEF SGP criteria will be widely discussed, a number of recommendations to adapt the GEF SGP activities for the country level will be developed to be further used by the SGP.

Capacity - Building Component
The workshop will raise awareness of the SGP potential partners about the GEF activities, GEF/SGP thematic and geografical priorities, and project selection criteria, will promote increasing skills of NGOS in concept and project proposal development.

Project Results
More than 60 representatives from NGOs, governance departments, UNDP and other donor agencies participated in the workshop. The workshop improved their knowledge of GEF activities, GEF/SGP thematic and geografical priorities, and project selection criteria. They also increased skills in concept and project proposal development. As a resulf of this workshop, 7 NGOs became GEF/SGP partners and recieved funding for project implementation.
