Project Details & Results
To construct a biogas/biolatrine production plant for producing biogas which will be used for cooking and lighting at the school also to promote through schools the use of biogas as an alternative environment friendly source of energy.

Skills for installation, operation and maintenance of biogas system distilled to school community.

Use of biogas (in place of fuelwood) and application of slurry in vegetable gardens all contribute to sustainable livelihood.

Indigenous people around project learnt about the new technology through demonstrative effect.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Through the biogas project, the public because aware about the climate change focal area. Wide use of renewable energy was acknolowedged as one of the ways that prevents adverse climate change.
Policy Impact
Project provided positive policy feedback that biogas use at household level as well as Institutional level was feasible.
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
SGP and School communities jointly supported the project. This created a good patnership between the school and SGP.
Project Results
Technical Feasibility: Project helped to demonstrate that cooking on biogas is feasible at household level as well as Institutional level.
Policy impact: Project provided a useful policy impact to the effect that biogas was an effective substitute to fuelwood for cooking as advocated for in National Energy Policy.
