Project Details & Results
The project falls within the Biodiversity Conservation focal area. It intends to achieve the following objectives:
An Indigenous herbal garden is developed on land allocated by the Pilanesburg Provincial Park; and
Indigenous knowledge is documented for future generations while at the same time educating the youth through youth clubs on the medicinal properties of various plants. Based on the above, the National Steering Committee proposed and agreed that the community be supported through a planning grant to develop their proposal further.

The purpose of the planning grant is to ensure that the community members actively participate in the development of this proposal.
Capacity - Building Component
Through this planning grant it is anticipated that the grantee will develop skills in project development and planning.

Sustainable livelihoods does not form part of this proposal.

Gender is not included in this planning grant.
Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
The planning grant targets the Bakgatla Tribe, part of the Tswana nation.
