Project Details & Results
In accordance with a guidance of the CPMT it is possible to use a modest portion of the SGP grant allocation for capacity building, monitoring, evaluation, or communications, wherever there is a well-qualified NGO to implement NSC approved projects. Mongolian NGOs and CBOs are young and not experienced. Therefore, it was needed to improve their capacity by conducting training workshops by the MACNE, the oldest and most experienced environmental NGO in Mongolia.
This grant is given to MACNE NGO to conduct 11 training workshops to strengthen rural environmental NGOs and CBOs capacities and advertise GEF SGP in 11 SGP covered provinces.
All the 11 training workshops were conducted in accordance with plans. One documentary named “Suffer of Mother Nature” was made in cooperation with Ulaanbaatar TV Broadcasting company. A Guidebook “Strengthening of capacities of Local Environmental NGOs” was prepared and 1500 copies were issued by the project.
Capacity - Building Component
As it is main aim to strenghten rural environmental NGOs in 10 GEF/SGP focal areas by conducting 2 days training, open discussion and different practices.
Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
All environmental NGOs of rural area will be covered in the activity.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Increasing public awareness through its rural NGO activities will be also an important task of the project.
Project Results
11 training workshops on introduction and procedures of GEF SGP were conducted for local NGOs and CBOs by MACNE, the oldest Mongolian environmental NGO in 11 province centers. Over 200 local NGOs and CBOs were trained. A documentary named “Suffer of Mother Nature” was produced and a Guidebook “ Strengthening of capacities of Local Environmental NGOs was issued in 1500 copies.
