Project Details & Results
The project will install solar engines for pumping irrigation water to a 60.000 m2 land near on the side of the Euphrates River, in addition to establishing an environment awareness center for spreading awareness among farmers, investors, and decision makers about uses of solar energy in agriculture.
Notable Community Participation
The project is conducted by the farmers association in Mre'ieh, Deir Ezzor, in cooperation with local experts from private and public sector, including the National Center for Energy Research at the Ministry of Electricity. Furthermore, the project will cooperate with vendors of related equipment and international research entities in the field of renewable energy. The project may also benefit from the Jordanian Expertise in solar water pumping system. The project will be implemented by a local workforce, after receiving proper training on management and maintenance of the project, under supervision from the above mentioned parties.
Capacity - Building Component
-Cooperation with experts for conducting research and studies on solar energy applications
-Establishment of an awareness center specialized in issues of agriculture and uses of renewable energy
-Circulating project results amongst farmers in Deir Ezzour trough brochures and workshops to be held in cooperation with the Farmers Union and the Women's Union.
