Project Details & Results
Carry out a comprehensive study to identify the areal distribution and the population of the Mediterranean Monk Seals in the Black Sea.
Project Results
The project resulted in a thorough investigation of the monk seal habitats in the Black Sea coast of Turkey. Similar surveys in other coasts of Turkey demonstrated the importance of these coasts as seal habitats, which brought further funding to the NGO that resulted in replication and advancement of monk seal conservation activities. With the advocacy of this particular NGO, monk seals became widely known in Turkey
