Main problems:
The local herdmen?s excessive relying on the natural resources not only results in the enlargement of traditional stock raising area, but also caused disordered and over-exploitation of wild medicinal plant, which will further destroy the fragile alpine grassland ecosystem and result to rodents and pests disaster, desertification and sandification.

Project activities/solutions:
1. Promote alternative livelihood for local community including handicrafts making and turnip planting;
2. Set up ?eagle-attracting-racks' on the grassland of the community in order to control the quantity of rats and rabbits;
3. Conduct vegetation restoration on the bared grassland;
4. Organize community co-management conference for grassland;
5. Improve the livestock species;
6. Organize a meeting on enhancing the awareness of grassland ecosystem.

Anticipated results/outcomes:
1. reduce 325 livestock at project site to reduce the pressures of grassland;
2. Locals' income increase 1000RMB per year through alternative livelihood;
3. the population of rat and rabbit reduced 20%, about 10 ha. of grassland restored naturally;
4.about 0.3 ha. of bared land recovered by planting grass;
5. about 3-4 community start rotation grazing and sustainable grassland management practice applied in about 10000 ha. of grassland;
6. two community sustainable grassland management plan developed;
7. improved yak production increased 20%;
8. about 300 herdmen's awareness of grassland conservation enhanced.
