RAISE AWARENESS OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY TO THE PLIGHT OF THE SEA TURTLE POPULATION OF THE KUDAT AREA
The project aims at raising awareness among local communities to conserve and improve the sea turtle population in Kudat area. The objectives is to engage and train local communities in beach patrolling to prevent sea turtle eggs harvesting, conduct environmental education activities such as beach clean up and school outreach, develop awareness materials for turtle conservation, and to support the sea turtles conservation through promotion of environmental stewardship to minimize the amount of debris existing in the community areas by practicing sustainable trash collection and composting systems.

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
By involving the local communities as honorary wildlife warden and hatchery managers and caretakers, and giving allowances to them for their participation, livelihood of these communities will be improved.
Policy Impact
Effort undertaken by this project could potentially be adopted by the Sabah Parks in the proposed establishment of the Tun Mustapha Marine Park.
