Enforcing the Environmental Governance in Moldova by involving public in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process
The project proposal with the title “Enforcing the Environmental Governance in Moldova by involving public in Environmental Impact Assessment (EAI) process” is elaborated by P.A. EcoContact in partnership with international trainer and coacher Mrs. Suzanne Bakker. The main idea of this proposal is to support the process of implementation of the National Environmental Strategy of the Republic of Moldova for 2014-2023 years and the Association Agreement of the Republic of Moldova and the European Union. According to these two main documents, Moldova committed to change the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) mechanism and in 2014 the new Law on EIA was approved, but the mechanism for implementation is not yet in place. Primary objective of the proposal is to support the process of the implementation of the Environmental Strategy of the Republic of Moldova by developing participatory mechanism of the implementation of the EIA process. We formulate the main objective taking in consideration the arguments mentioned above and also the fact that EIA has the objective to ensure environmental factors which are considered in the decision-making process; ensure that possible adverse environmental impacts are identified and avoided or minimized and to involve the public in the process.
