It is with tremendous sadness that SGP acknowledges the untimely passing of Mr. Danielius Pivoriunas, Senior Operations Officer for Capacity Building at the Global Environmental Facility –GEF, and good friend and champion of the GEF SGP.

Danielius was the main focal point of the GEF SGP at the GEF Secretariat and since his arrival he fought hard to promote and improve the programme's visibility. He helped start numerous GEF SGP country programmes and trained GEF SGP staff on key GEF matters during the most recent regional workshops He was a good mentor, and a fun and loving friend.
