Wind Energy Used for Water Pumping and Irrigation n Edirne Kuzucu Village
Kuzucu Village will be replacing part of its energy needs for irrigation (from electricity) to wind energy by the use of an experimental wind collector. The wind collector will be used to pump water from a shallow, unused water well with a low pressure. The pumped water will be stored and used to complement the existing water supply scheme. The proposed collector will be able to provide the needs of 40 farms around the insatallation (the perimeter of reach of the pumping system). The system will be beneficial to not only the 40 farmers it will be providing the water, but to all farmers of the cooperative as without the use of electricity for pumping the unit price for the water will become lower thus will be economical to all farmers. Also this will reduce the CO2 emmissions.

Project Characteristics and Results
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Project will be used as a demonstration of this new technology and the results will be widely disseminated.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
The project, although not creating an alternative income, will provide both an economical and an environmental benefit, due to reduction in the amount of money paid by the locals to the use of the water and also regarding emmission reduction. However, there needs to be caution on the sustainable use of water.
