Indigenous Community Initiatives for Climate Change in Dahanu Taluka: Training Tribal youth to set up an innovative non conventional power unit (The Solar Library) and Utilizing Warli folk art to create awareness on Climate Change.
The purpose of the project is to work with the tribal community in Dahahnu Taluka on the thematic issue of climate change. The project has defined two specific thrust areas ? one, a demonstration project involving tribal youth and renewable energy and one, using tribal art to create awareness about climate change The objectives are to demonstrate a viable renewable energy project in a tribal community, create a vibrant and active tribal youth group who will take up issues of energy conservation, promote traditional folk art and tribal artists, rejuvenate the local traditional art forms for the use of global issues like climate change, spread awareness about the long term implications of climate change and campaign and take action to ensure that energy conservation becomes a priority for the local state machinery.

Policy Impact
Both the youth and artists? groups would contribute in creating a space for renewables among the public as well as with concerned policy makers. Moreover, the solar library, a replicable project will be the tool through which renewables will be advocated.
Gender Focus
The Project focuses on both the Genders equally as the project work towards building a mechanism by which the solar Library is taken over by the Youth group through the local Gram Panchayat.
