COMMUNITY ACTION MONITORING ANDPUBLIC AWARENESS RAISING CAMPAIGN ON POPS PESTICIDES
The project intends to sustain and develop further the community monitoring and public awareness activities in the issues of POPs and other pesticides covering more areas in Daval del Sur, especially the watershed areas, and involving other sectoral groups, particularly women and youth.
The project activities are expected to increase the awareness of farmers and other sectors regarding the risk of pesticides use, particularly POPs pesticides. Through this project, community groups who join in the monitoring and research will gain experiences in participatory action research increasing their capacity to assess and study their conditions especially those that are harmful to their health and environment.

Specific Objectives are:
? Review documents available on the status of POPs pesticides in Davao del Sur;
? Conduct interviews with government and non-government key informants to obtain information on POPs
? Conduct cross-sectional surveys
? Conduct IEC campaign
? Develop and utilize IEC materials
? Develop deeper and more comprehensive understanding on POPs
? Build the capacity of the local partner organization
? Come up with a written report to contribute to the country situation on POPs pesticides
? Provide an input into the process of developing a National Implementation Plan (NIP).
