PROJECT ON WATER SUPPLY AND NATURAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT IN FOUR VILLAGES OF HUNYARI, MALIWANDA, KIMBULU AND SALAKWA IN HUNYARI WARD AT BUNDA DISTRICT COUNCIL, MARA-TANZANIA.
Context:
The villages of Kimbulu, Hunyari, Salakwa and Maliwanda borders Grumet Game Reserve at Serengeti National Park. Lubana River makes a boundary between the said villages and Serengeti National Park. The Population depends on this river and two charcoal dams in Maliwanda and Kihumbu for water. Due to the size of the ward, less than a half of population is able to access the said dams for animals and human use particularly women and children.
There are increased incidences of land use conflicts that threaten the existence of pastoralists as a result of mounting demand for pastoral land by the farmers. On the other hand, there is need to protect wildlife corridors from increased illegal human settlements especially for the agricultural communities. Illegal settlements fuels human ? wildlife conflicts.

Project?s Primary Objective:
To contribute to the improvement of livelihoods of the communities in Hunyari Ward through increased access to water, natural resources management and good governance.
Implementation Strategies:
? Drill 3 boreholes and 1 charcoal dam
? Train community on water management issues
? Train the community on beekeeping and marketing strategy

Project Sustainability Strategies:
? Formation of Water Management Committee
? Support community to beekeeping as a part of income generation
