Mutka is a poor village, which is far away from Sanamxay municipality district, Attapeu province. The main occupation of peoples here is rice cultivation aside with other cash crops plantation such as coffee gardens and livestock. The most challenging thing in this village is deforestation and chemical fertilizer using in agriculture activity widely. The side effect of climate change in this area is the river they usually used in daily became dryness, especially in dry season; women and child have to work hard to carry water from a far place for household use. Using pesticide, herbicide in rice field and coffee garden also destroy the herbal tree which people use as local medicine and the chemical fertilizer was also flown onto the river causing unclean water supply and biodiversity degradation day by day. This challenging thing is happened because they are not properly followed the forest management rule and regulation as well as the enforcement use of the existing legal documentations. The rule and law on forest, water resource and how dangerous on using chemical fertilizer are not disseminated widely to the local community as well as local authority. The aim of project is to be a model for other villages in Sanamxai District as an implementation to follow rule and regulation on forest management in action.
