Prevention of land degradation: best practice to restore lands contaminated with radionuclides
The aim of the project is to restore degraded lands through development, demonstration and dissemination of new technologies to grow multiyear grass and niche species on Zhytomyr and Kyiv Polissya landscape contaminated with radionuclides. In order to do that, two demonstration plots covering around 100 ha of lands allow to apply new agroecology methods. The project contributes to creation of 25 ha of public pasturage to be used by communities in a sustainable way. As well, the project aim is to raise knowledge and skills of the local farmers, build new partnerships with Association of farmers and private land owners of Zhytomyr region.

Inovative Financial Mechanisms
Ecological awareness and community culture of 200 persons were raised regarding the dissemination of experience in environmental technologies for the cultivation of perennial grasses and niche crops under the conditions of the Polissya through two scientific conferences, seminars, participation in Forums (7) and Knowledge Fair (1). In addition, ecological puzzle featuring niche cultures in 1000 copies was created and produced.
