Community-based tourism development in Chidukhtaron valley of Muminobod of district of Khatlon region
Tajikistan has a great potential for the development of tourism industry. In particular, there is an opportunity for the rapid development of tourism in mountain environment, since 93% of the country's territory is occupied by mountains. Through involvement of the residents of the mountainous regions in the creation of technical and material conditions for tourists. It can be through improving of small hotels management for tourists on the basis of households. This, firstly, will create a base for the development of tourism and, secondly, it can bring income to local residents, improve their material conditions. Given that the material conditions of residents, especially in remote mountain areas, are very weak, this project can contribute in solving the poverty problem for a certain category of the population of the Muminabad region.
The problem that the project is directly targeting is the solution of the inadequate development of tourism due to the non-use of the potential of remote mountain regions. In Tajikistan, tourism is poorly developed and our country is visited by a relatively small number of tourists compared to the other Central Asian republics. In addition, there is not enough number of well-equipped tourist bases to attract more interested tourists from other countries. Meanwhile, in the mountainous regions of the country there are a large number of places and facilities where could be organized travel and rest for interested foreign tourists.
One of the significant problems that our project intends to solve is a lack of an adequate material and technical bases. This problem will be solved by improving the condition of mini-hotels in the mountainous region of Muminabad based on households. The residents of the relevant communities are interested in carrying out this work, and thus they will have an opportunity to increase their family income from this work. Greater attraction of tourists to the country can significantly increase revenues to the regional budget and the national budget, which in turn will help to solve other important socio-economic problems
Creation of the necessary material and technical base in the tourist zone, to improve the conditions for the reception of tourists in private hotels, organize seminars and trainings for beginner guides, organize a sanitation campaign for the maintenance of spring and natural pools in Muminabad district, build a pavilion for the sale of souvenirs, materials and development of handicraft. Prepare and upgrade the skills and capacity of 14-guides and 20-volunteers from the number of young people in rural areas. Developing tourism by attracting the population to this work. To give the inhabitants of the village ecological knowledge with a view to protect nature and not to damage the ecology.
