Strengthening Indigenous Cultural Conservation for Chilyabufu Community Co-Benefits.
Main Objective:
Chilyabufu Community Resource Board is a project whose main objective is to to consolidate strengthened sense of ownership of Chilyabufu Community Resource Board indigenous people of their local natural conserved and protected areas surrounding the two existing natural and spiritual fishing ponds. Thereby;
? directly or indirectly providing biodiversity and ecosystem resilient opportunities among the
target groups; and
? promote community enhanced self-strengthening of the entire conserved and protected areas.

Specific Objectives:
1. To support enhanced conservation of the two main ponds in Chilyabufu Community.
2. To support the documentation, development and enforcement of community by-laws and
protocols as a way to communicate and strengthen community governance and management.
3. To support the recognition of the Malumbe traditional ceremony.
4. To improve the living environment surrounding the conserved and protected areas of the

Outcomes/Results:
1. There will be enhanced biodiversity and cultural conservation in the chiefdom.
2. Malumbe ceremony is expected to be documented and disseminated locally and internationally.
3. There will be increased tourism attraction of the chiefdom ponds and the Malumbe ceremony.
4. There will be increased preservation of the ILA cultural practices of fishing in the area.
5. There will be improved living environment and community health.
6. The project will result in best practices and enhanced knowledge, attitude and willingness of
fishery
