Community Conserved Areas of Namaanza and Namuswa ? Choma in Choma District of Zambia.
Main Project Objectives:
The main aim of the project is to contribute to the long term sustainable conservation of (territorial cults/shrine cults) cultural hotspots and natural habitats of Namaanza and Namuswa areas in Choma district in order to safeguard water and forest ecosystems for the benefit of community health and food security.

Specific Objectives:
1. Enhanced community engagement ? mobilise grassroot support ? to build capacity of local
community leadership to manage habitats and conserve cultural hotspots;
2. Support local communities to safeguard their community conserved areas of worship in order to
enable them to retain their cultural and ecological functions;
3. Initiate sustainable livelihood support as an incentive for participation in conservation and
protection of established local community conservation areas.

Expected Results:
Natural resources restoration and conservation
1. Enhanced protection of the local forest and conservation of habitat for plant and animal
biodiversity of the area.
2. Improved livelihoods of local communities
3. Increased integration of nature conservation with sustainable livelihoods through goat
production.
4. Increase food and nutrition through improved goat management and vegetable farming.
