Community-based Alternative Energy Development for Climate Change Adaptation
? Objectives:
a) Create concrete area to protect biodiversity of forest ecology and sustainable foods by integrate Suay tribe people to corporate and prepare for climate change
b) Modeling in using sustainable and renewable energy to consist with the area
c) Exchange knowledge in energy conservation and renewable energy usage of Suay tribe, and expand it in the future
? Beneficial: 50 households
? Target area:
Nong hang subdistrict, Utumphon district in Sri Saket province. It is a flat area covered with forests and rice paddle field. Most lands have a sandy characteristic.
? Proposed activities:
a. Activity to strengthen community?s ability
i. Educate on energy saving in daily life and encourage in the use of renewable energy (Happy family Reduce energy) in community level
ii. Learning center in community forest management, renewable energy, and organic farming Surin province
iii. Meeting with participated members every 3 months
b. Demonstration/Operation
i. Modeling ?The new theory of agriculture? in 5 households
ii. Inherit Suay tribe local wisdom in resources management from older generations to younger generations
iii. Renewable energy stove in households (50 households)
iv. Reduce fossil fuel usage in rice farming by using buffalo forces instead of machines
v. Kaem Ling dike project and increase forest in agricultural area
vi. Modeling organic gas from animal waste in fermented tank 2,000 liters
vii. Modeling syphon usage system for agriculture instead of electric and oil
viii. Set up Natural learning center by creating nature walk way/ tree name tag
c. Knowledge management activity (gather information, result, lessons learned, and experiences from the project)
i. Create project brochures, distribute project through radio program, and documents
d. Participatory evaluation

? Targeted group:
Suay tribe is the main targeted group of this area. They are native people in Sri sa ket province. They are rooted from Khmer group.
