Solar energy for homes' lighting in Bedhola, Nujid Plain, Socotra Governorate

Bedhola and the two neighbouring villages Maharef and Khiem are located in Nujid plain south of Socotra Governorat. The villages are located on the narrow coastal strip between the hill slopes to the north and the Sea to the south. The community is a mixed of sheepherders that managing livestock in hill slopes and fishermen permanently live in the cost.
Project will help improving local community livelihood through provision of solar system for lighting. The total beneficiaries of 1227 inhabitants (695 males and 532 females in 151 families. The project will have a direct impact on community livelihood and secure an annual saving of US$ 413 per family and CO2 28.4 tons per year.
Environmental awareness with target local community when 60 men and 60 women participate in a one day workshop addressing climate changes

Notable Community Participation
Bedhola is considered the largest village in Nujid plain. Youth are in percentage of the population due to the fact that families are settling in the village due to availability of schools. Project implementation committee is formed from Youth of the village.
