Long Term Sustainable Management Scheme for Taro Patches in Ngaraard State
The goal of this project is to improve livelihoods and quality of life in Choll County, by establishing a Demok Stock (taro leaf soup stock) Processing and Marketing Cooperative managed by the community. This project also involves environmental preservation and taro patch restoration, as well as infrastructure development in the mesei in order to improve practical accessibility. The project is about sustainable management of natural, social and cultural resources through the production and selling of a healthy traditional food. It aims to benefit the women of Choll through increased income opportunities, environmental care and participation in local decision-making processes as well as the creation of farmers? networks and collaborations.
