Rumbur Valley Rehabilitation Project
To improve the watershed area in the Rumbur Valley and adopt measures to check river erosion.
The main objective of the project is to arrest and reverse the prevailing upland degredetion processes and increase agro-silco pastoral production in the Rumbur Valley of Chitral district.
This can be acheieved by adopting suitable long term and short term natural resources management strategies and technologies.
These objectives are designed to demonstrate through small scale activities, potentially successful approaches to conserve biodiversity in the valley, mobilize communities and people (both men and women) to conserve the local environment, encourage peoples participation and transfer technologies related to the management of upland natural resources and to improve the socio-economic conditions of the local communities and people in the valley.
Activities to be carried out under the project are construction of two protection walls, consolidation of stream bank and construction of stone check dams in three streams.
The anticipated results of the project are improved local environment and biodiversity situation, increased productivity from agricultural lands, strengthened capacity of RCVO and local people through transfer of technologies and improved socio-economic conditions of local people.
