Developing better understanding for sustainable use and protection of the Cornel tree, the raw material of the Devrek Batons, and supporting activities to that end are fields of particular interest for the Association.
The project, were aiming re-introduction of the species under threat of extinction in the region. For that aim, planting Cornel tree and Walnut tree, yet another specie original to the region and under threat of extinction, were planned to be implemented in the selected areas. An extensive program was developed that incorporates plantation of capari and eglantine cover plants and bee breeding as well in to the scope of the project. It was planned to provide an economic income to the region via maintaining a traditional art and revitalizing folkloric food culture, while protecting the natural flora of the region.
