A grant of $4344.89 has been approved by the NSC for environment awareness work to be undertaken by the East Hiri Coastal Zone Management Community Group. The project will cover awareness programmes for four main villages in the Hiri District of the Central Province and target groups to benefit from the awareness programmes include the community schools, traditional villagers and landowners and recent settlers. It is anticipated that this awareness programme will further set the scenario for the development of thof the East Hiri Coastal Zone Management Zone. Subject to availability of funding in the current fiscal year the programme may have to be deffered to year 1999.
