The project intended to enlighting the pressure of natural resources exploitation done by the local community through inducing the creation of alternative source of income
Project goal:
Improving the community quality of live through better land use management system.

Project objective :
1. To increase and to develop capacity of CBO;
2. To increase the awareness of the community on natural rescue conservation effort;
3. To increase local community participation in adopting better land management system;
4. To maintain biodiversity in Sei Ular water catchment area;
5. To increase the deposit of ground water availability by tree planting;
6. To be a model of land management system in water catchment area;
7. In the long term, to increase income and welfare of local community.


Activities to be carried out under the project :

1. Preparation.
a) Social preparation - networking and awareness raising;
b) Forming CBOs;

2. Local training and education in the field.
a) Planting and preserving techniques which regards to conservation concept;
b) Land management;

3. Outreach Approach.
a) Networking - non formal leaders and other related government institution;
b) Enlarging the activities to other area.

4. Technical Assistance.
a) Conservation concept in water catchment area;
b) Better land management system.

5. Evaluation and Reporting.

Project Participants and/or beneficiaries :
1. Yayasan Pengembangan Sumber Daya Pedesaan (YAPESDA).
2. Local community in Pagar Merbau sub-district, Deli Serdang district, North Sumatera


Anticipated result of the project:
1. Better land and water quality in Sei Ular water catchment area;
2. Productive plants to be planted in the location;
3. A model of conservation effort done in Sei Ular water catchment area to be implemented in other relevant locations;
4. Active participation of local community in nature conservation effort;
5. Increased capacity of CBO in managing land which regards to nature conservation concept;
6. Biodiversity in Sei Ular water catchment area to be maintained;
7. Productive use of land available along the Sei Ular river, for benefit of local community as well as conservation effort.
