Mass Manatee Education and Surveillance Campaign
The goal of the project is to implement a mass manatee conservation education campaign and surveillance in the Port Honduras, Gulf of Honduras, and adjacent coastal strips, in order to promote increased awareness, monitoring, and improved management and protection of the West Indian Manatee. The activities proposed in the campaign include the production and distribution of educational materials, regular media announcements, workshops, establishment of a monitoring base station and radio network on the southern coat, and to extend outreach activities to the coastal areas of Belize?s neighbors, Guatemala and Honduras.
