Recycling Municipal Waste through Biogas Production and Composting Project
The municipal waste in Kathmandu valley is increasing day by day. The case has become even worst within the past two years with the alarming rate of population immigration to the valley from the rural areas. Thus there is dire need to safe disposal of municipal waste and encourage people to participate in the management of such domestic waste. The main objective of the project is to encourage housewives to segregate degradable and non degradable domestic waste at the source (in the household). The degradable waste would be further treated to produce compost and biogas whereas the non degradable waste would be sold for recycling purpose. This demonstrative project would be initiated in ward no 1, 2 and 22 of Lalitpur Submetropolitan City and income generation from the waste would be the basis for the sustainability and replicability of the project.
