Community participation in avoiding further erosion of Ayung River by planting local varieties of bamboo
Project goal:
To conserve land from being eroted by planting local varieties bamboo trees with participation of local community
Project objectives:
1.To increase community?s understanding of ecological function
2.To increase community?s awareness on biodiversity conservation efforts
3.To increase community?s participation on conservation activities
4.To increase community?s income through providing alternative income generating activities
5.To improve community?s sense of belonging by involving their participation in maintaining bamboo trees planted
6.To improve land quality along Ayung River banks
7.To improve land productivity along Ayung River banks
8.To conserve biodiversity by planting local variety bamboo trees
Activities to be carried out under the project :
1.Preparation.
a)Program?s planning socialization
b)Conducting observation and survey (data collecting) on resources available to determine priority scale of targete location
c)Selecting the most suitable bamboo varieties with regard to land characteristic
d)Nursery
e)Land preparation
2.Local training and education in the field.
a)River banks / critical land management technique
b)Varieties identification technique
c)Bamboo planting and maintaing technique
d)Sustainable cultivation technique
e)Simple business management technique
3.Outreach Approach.
Workshop, meetings, dissemination of process documentation
4.Technical Assistance.
a)Field training for the community
