Bottle recycling environmental education management programme (TRI/95/G52/2101/007)
The South East Port of Spain Cultural Organisation (SEPOS) approached the GEF/SGP for grant assistance to purchase a truck to meet the high transport needs and thus ensure the continuation and viability of recycling of glass bottles. As a result of discussions and site visits with the GEF/SGP NC and NSC representative, the organisation was encouraged to consider the approach of using financial assistance to the project to lease transport to continue and upgrade their activities for four months. Towards this end the CBO will be assisted in the formulation of a business plan for the first year of operation based on an assessment of the first three months of the project.
Grant funds were approved for purchase of materials/stock and to provide leased transport for four months. Further support will be based on an assessment of the financial viability of the project as indicated by the statements of income and expenditure for the first three months of the project.
