Botswana Hoodia Commercial Production and Processing Project
A group of farmers whose common interest is to grow hoodia commercially have since the beginning of April 2008 met and agreed to formalise the establishment of their farmers association. The BOGHA whose current membership includes small to large scale farmers from Gantsi, Kgalagadi, Bobonong, Tuli Block, Kweneng, Ngwaketse and Gaborone agricultural districts aims to facilitate the conservation of hoodia through commercial cultivation. In Botswana more than two species of hoodia are native and prevelant to the areas of Kgalagadi, Gantsi, Bobirwa and Boteti. The two species of interest to BOGHA are the hoodia gordonii in Gantsi and Kgalagadi, and hoodia currorii in Bobirwa and Boteti.
