Utilization of recreation potential of "Sevan" National Park through establishment of public beach
The proposed project is to establish a public beach in “Sevan” National Park, using 5.49 ha coastal territory (within the administrative limits of Sevan urban community), in order to create an accessible recreation area for the population with a proper facilities for tourist visitations. The main idea of the public beach is to create free-of-charge recreation possibilities for the population. The project implementation will contribute to the protection of biodiversity in the selected and adjacent areas, as the project provides for a continuous monitoring of biodiversity, as well as seminars aimed at awareness raising in nature protection issues. In the main, the project aims at enhancement of sustainability of “Sevan” National Park through improving the recreation potential efficiency of the protected area and the land management efficiency. To mitigate negative impact on habitats and biodiversity the project will strive to create alternative income-generation possibilities for the local population through application of financially viable models of community involvement in PA management.
