The project will undertake identification of specific landscape for the baseline assessment from the major sub watersheds of Gilgel Gibe 1 catchment, in which the already established research centers of the University are situated. These field research centers include 10 kebeles around the dam of Gilgel Gibe 1, which are found in 4 districts in Jimma zone, Oromia Regional state. Consultation with local stakeholders and discussion with national GEF SGP will also be considered in selecting some criteria for identification of the specific landscape for the assessment and later implementation of the intended project after the assessment. Preliminary landscape survey and consultations with concerned stakeholders will be carried out for making necessary arrangements including awareness creation about the intended project before the actual baseline assessment.
