The project site stands in a transition zone between two biomes, the Maputaland Centre of Endemism and the Miombo Woodland, that shift from lowplains to highlands; focus will be on training local peasant groups in sustainable farming practices, use of land resources through environmental conservation of soil, water and wildlife; promotion of community management committees and resource user groups will limit pressure on local resources and diversify livelihood alternatives.
