Scaling up Biomass Efficient Oven Manufacturing
Scaling up Biomass Efficient Oven Manufacturing
The project aims to upscale the manufacturing of biomass efficient bread making ovens at Kaisosi ARTC in the Kavango region and distribute it in various regions in Namibia. The ovens are environmental friendly equipment that use less wood, therefore enhance biodiversity as less wood will be harvested.

The project will reduce poverty among women in rural areas as it equips them will baking and marketing skills to generate income.

Project Characteristics and Results
Project sustainability
The three female artisans trained during the implementation of this project are able to produce the ovens there by creating their own fabrication units(SMEs). The existing women running bakeries are used to train other women who would like to acquire ovens and set up bakeries thereby providing them with an opportunity to earn training fee income. The bakeries have proved to be sustainable businesses and the income generated will sustain them for future. Komeho Namibia have managed through this project to market the ovens. The ovens are added as appropriate technology products to its range of AT products and have become a hub for its fabrication thereby creating a value chain for the Biomass efficient Bread making Ovens available for rural communities in the whole of Namibia.
