Introduction of an all-ceramic solar collector as a low-cost alternative water heating technology for Armenia
The project aims to introduce a pilot model type of all-ceramic solar flat collector as a low-cost alternative water heating technology for Armenia. It is envisaged to make the ceramic element of the collector by using domestic clay and other ordinary raw materials without any expensive metallic details. The absorption plate of the collector and water pipes were assembled in one-piece construction by using the specific technology. These compartments made from specially selected ceramic materials are stable under aggressive environment and long-term exposure to ultraviolet radiation. The proposed ceramic collector has high mechanical strength within a large amplitude of working temperature. Operating lifetime of the ceramic collector is practically unrestricted. The proposed technology is financially feasible, because due to the use of domestic raw materials and ordinary manufacturing technique, the cost of the ceramic collector as well the commercial price are expected to be considerably low compared to the market value of traditional solar heaters.
