KSNP (Kuala Selangor Nature Park) for Ramsar - Developing a CEPA Outreach Programme for MNS Members and Local Communities
KSNP (Kuala Selangor Nature Park) for Ramsar - Developing a CEPA Outreach Programme for MNS Members and Local Communities
]: The project aims to develop additional function of the existing Kuala Selangor Nature Park (KSNP) into a wetlands training center to train MNS members and targeted local communities along the coast and interior wetlands of North Central Selangor. This, coupled with existing facilities within the Park including accommodation, function rooms, and amphitheater creates the opportunity to develop KSNP as an ideal “wetlands training ground” for capacity building, education and awareness programmes, and wetlands restoration. This would effectively lead to ways to improve the protection and conservation of wetlands in the area. Besides, it has been identified within the KSNP Management Plan that KSNP in the next five years should gradually strive to become an important wetlands education, resource and training centre for the region complimenting the other parallel effort of elevating it as a Ramsar Site. This proposal is to enhance KSNP role as a Wetlands Education Centre for Communities, promoting CEPA activities and compliment MNS's role as NGO-CEPA focal point. Therefore, it is envisaged that after the project period, the renewed interest, outreach, training and facilities will result in follow up activities that will lead to a national facility focusing on wetlands conservation and education.
