Sustainable management of farmland and improvement through oilseed production and sale, Bidung, Trashigang
Bidung Geog has an area of 46.60 sq. km and is located North of Shongphu, North-East of Samkhar, North-West of Radhi, West of Phongmey and East of Bartsham and has border with Yalang Geog of Trashi Yangtse Dzongkhag. The proposed project site consists of two chiogs of Saling and Tshigtuma, comprising of eight small villages namely Tshigtuma, Zhingneer, Jalung, Solo Goenpa & Gelong Goenpa, Khairi, Saling, Dogorom and Pamtens. Farming is the main livelihood of the community. The Village has 55 households with more than hundred people.
The objective of the project is
• Soil fertility improvement and erosion control through establishment of hedgerows along the contour lines
• Conservation and protection of water sources and catchment area
• Improvement of rural livelihood through oilseed development and extraction of mustard oil thereby minimizing dependency on imported oil
