Green Screen GEF SGP Community Outreach.
Sustain T&T is a non-profit company registered in Trinidad and Tobago dedicated to Sustainability Education and Communications.
Environmental and sustainability issues are often viewed as highly technical and often times boring. The marquee project of Sustain T&T, Green Screen ? The Environmental Film Series, works to bring relevant environmental issues to communities in an entertaining and engaging way through the use of film and animation. Now entering its fourth year, Sustain T&T proposes to expand the Green Screen platform in 2014/2015 to include community education, outreach and capacity building around the GEF SGP program specifically.
In 2014/2015 a series of film screenings, Q&A?s, presentations on successful GEF projects and other activities, will create opportunities for communities to gather and discuss how the issues presented in the film may or may not affect them and what they may be able to do in order to become involved in environmental sustainability activity at the community or national level. Community groups, activists, environmental champions and others with diverse experiences from various parts of Trinidad and Tobago will be invited to share their experiences on film or as part of community talks.
Project Objectives-
1) To educate community audiences about local and international environmental issues along the GEF focal areas
2) To show evidence of successful GEF projects and how they have benefitted communities in Trinidad and Tobago. This will be achieved through Q&A sessions with GEF grantee project leaders or representatives as well as a series of 2-3 minute films about GEF projects to be produced by Sustain T&T and screened as part of the Green Screen program in 2015 before feature films or as part of short film showcases.
3) To provide information about the GEF SGP program to the communities via the screening events.
4) To encourage submissions of applications to GEF SGP through short workshops explaining in detail the requirements of application, necessary resources and support in the development of project proposals that fit within the ambit of GEF SGP.
5) To encourage and facilitate discussions and exchanges about local and international environmental issues and empower communities to take action
