PROJECTO DE COMBATE A CACA FURTIVA NA RESEVA DO NIASSA, DISTRITO DE SANGO
The project that aims to reduce poaching rates in the Niassa Reserve and contribute to biodiversity conservation; the Sanga district is one of the districts where poaching activities are very intense and the human-wildlife conflict is observed on a large scale; the situation is worsened by the use of non-selective hunting methods where animals are injured and killed indiscriminately including with use of fire; poaching threatens the efforts of wildlife conservation in the country because it can lead to species extinction and consequently reduction of biodiversity; the problem of poaching is noticeable in the district where often hunters are seen selling game meat, even during the closed season for hunting, when species are breeding; also fires for the purpose of hunting in some cases spread into communities and destroy goods of the families.
