Community Tree Planting & Sustainable Livelihood Support Project
The CBO, based and working from Simbu province. The grant will be used to implement a project titled ‘Community Tree Planting & Sustainable Livelihood Support’ in Yongugl Sub-District of Simbu Province. The project will address threats associated to Climate Change; deforestation and land degradation by restoring and rehabilitating degraded areas through reforestation. There will be seminars and awareness conducted to educate school children, teachers, churches, and the local communities on the issues of Climate Change and the environmental issues. Posters and awareness materials will be further distributed to enhance their understanding on the importance of the type of work the CBO is undertaking. Livelihood support program and Solar panels installation are other initiatives VoY will look at rolling out to the two tree-planting communities.
VoY was successful in receiving a full grant of US$39,012 in 2011 during the Operation Phase 4 (OP4) cycle for the project titled ‘Community Tree Planting and Awareness Education Project’. This is the second round of grant support to the CBO.
The NSC approved PGK125,725.00 with the conversion of US$47,443.39 during the NSC Meeting held on 01 May 2015. However there was an error identified with conversion, the correction grant allocation is US$49,111.33 using Feb 2015 UN Exchange Rate of 2.56.
While the project was delivered the final tranch the organisation failed to deliver their final reports for uploading on Database. NC has decided to close off the Project.
