Promoting Sustainable Forest Management and Conservation of Biodiversity in PNG taking into consideration the impact of Climate Change and REDD+ through policy dialogue and networking
This is a national NGO based in Port Moresby who primarily focuses their efforts in the forest sector and sustainable forest management. Given their extensive experience with donor assistance, reporting and the level at which they conduct their work with government agencies, including their extensive network at national, subnational and community, the organisation was requested to prepare and submit a full proposal consistent with strategic grant guidance notes. The proposal was developed and submitted to the secretariat, underwent review and then shared with UNDP-Central programme Management Team. Upon assessment, approval was received for the proposal to be tabled before the NSC for consideration. At the July 2014 meeting of the NSC, strategic grant of US$150,000.00 under the STAR allocation was awarded. The project will focus on policy initiatives und eth focal area of Land Degradation and Sustainable Forest Management. The initiative will work towards Promoting Sustainable Forest Management and Conservation of Biodiversity in PNG thus taking into consideration the impact of Climate Change and REDD+ through policy dialogue and networking. Being an affiliate organization, the NGO will be working closely with its 17 existing community based organization affiliate partners in a total of 17 provinces.
