Inclusion of the young generation in the sheep-breeding process, Modern shepherd
The situation in which sheep-breeding is now, is with impaired sustainability because of the lack of the modern technologies implemented in the activities of the whole process, especially in the sheep-milking process, a lack of practical education in the regular educational system, the non-existence of an educational system for adults, unbranded and unrecognizable sheep products, a lack of organized market appearance, non-existent marketing plans and researches, and all of the above-mentioned makes sheep-breeding a painstaking, extremely difficult and almost unprofitable business branch, and furthermore causes sheep-breeding to be unattractive for the youth, and especially women and it is also a reason for its unsustainability.
The project will feature modern milking equipment for sheep and will significantly ease the most difficult activity in the sheep-breeding process, the milking. Four sessions are going to be held, including mostly the young generation as participants, more accurately inheritors of sheep farms, alongside university and high-school and members of the Union of Women. With this, several outcomes are expected:
-improvement of the communication in the system of practical education on the sheep farms
-improvement of the managing skills in the sheep-breeding process
-direct involvement in the production process.
Two themes will be covered with the training plan:
-Automatic and manual milking and hygiene and obtaining healthy milk, and furthermore producing sheep cheese;
-Managing the biological circle in the sheep-breeding process.
At the end of these trainings, it is expected for them to be accredited as models of trainings for practical education in the area of sheep-breeding from the Agency for Adult Education and furthermore become regular practice in sheep-breeding. Two sheep products will be branded as traditional sheep cheese from organic sheep milk and organic lactic lamb from the autochthonous home sheep breed Pramenka Ovchepolka, and it will become a well-known brand through a marketing plan. It is also expected of the project to increase the profitability of sheep-breeding and raise its attractiveness with the young generation, and especially women.
