Implementation of “Intended Nationally Determined Contributions" of the Republic of Armenia in rural communities
Implementation of “Intended Nationally Determined Contributions" of the Republic of Armenia in rural communities
The main idea of the Project is to introduce Climate Revolving Investment Civil Fund model along with relevant technological and organizational components as a sustainable, decentralized, community-based financial mechanism to contribute to the mitigation targets of Armenia’s INDC. The proposed project will contribute to increasing knowledge and skills of local communities to monitor and follow up the CC mitigation projects. The quantitative outcomes of the projects, including monetary savings, as well as reduction of CO2 emissions have to be viewed as a source for replenishment of the climate revolving fund, thus creating additional incentives for communities in proper formulation and monitoring of the mitigation projects outcomes.
The project aims to select pilot communities or community unions ready to establish revolving funds through their active involvement in implementation of mitigation measures envisaged under INDC. The important component of the project will be the training and capacity strengthening for establishing appropriate instruments for management and oversight of the funds operation.
The proposed project will also provide recommendations for corresponding legislation which will lay ground for implementing Armenia’s INDC in a more comprehensive manner.

Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
Acknowledging the integral role of youth participation in any debate on the future development of Armenia, the Project will pay special attention to the involvement of youth and youth-support organizations in all activities. For this purpose, the Project team will encourage local youth to participate in meetings, discussions and workshops to increase the level of their awareness and knowledge on the issues related to the establishment of revolving climate investment civil funds and its operation aimed to environmental protection. Given the innovative nature of the project, there are all reasons to expect the interest and broad involvement of young people in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and, what is the most important, in the decision-making.
